The very first book I read when I wanted to learn about money management was Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. I was 15 at the time, and I had a deep desire to be independent, successful, and financially stable.
As a result, I’ve read many personal finance books for beginners and eventually graduated to the best books about money and investing. I wanted to learn all I could about achieving financial success.
The following are a few of my favorite must-read finance books that were essential when I started my wealth journey. Out of all of the personal finance books I’ve read (and I’ve read A TON), the following are the best books for wealth building for women that I highly recommend you read if you want to learn about personal finance and start getting your money right!

The 7 Best Books For Wealth Building For Women
#1. I Will Teach You To Be Rich by Ramit Sethi
The holy grail of beginner personal finance books. No joke.
This book is not only one of my top favorite personal finance books but is also a fan favorite amongst other personal finance enthusiasts. Why? Because it is loaded with financial wisdom!
After reading this book, I realized that I wasn’t optimizing my money the way I should be to get the best returns. The book walks you through setting up the right accounts and your 401k. It even teaches a little about investing made easy—perfect information for a beginner!
Ramit gives you the lowdown on getting your finances right with no BS and all the right humor. Also, get the most recent updated edition of the book here, and thank me later.
#2. Rich Bitch by Nicole Lapin
Really any book by Nicole Lapin is pure gold! In addition to Rich Bitch, she teaches you how to be a Boss Bitch, a Super Woman, and Miss Independent (my new favorite book from her!).
When I grow up, I want to be Nicole Lapin. Seriously, she is the ultimate finance queen! And in Rich Bitch, she teaches you how!
Nicole breaks down the book into an informative but easy-to-follow 12-step plan that is relatable and entertaining. For example, reading this book made me feel like I was getting valuable life advice while talking to a good friend or older sister.
Ladies, don’t sleep on this book! This is a highly underrated book on financial literacy for women. If you want to start understanding the basics of personal finance for women, how to be a “rich bitch”, and be smarter with your money, then you will definitely enjoy reading this book!
#3. Quit Like A Millionaire by Kristy Shen, Bruce Leung, JL Collins
If you want to retire early and be a millionaire, then you need to read this book. The Rule of 72, the 4% rule, financial independence, retiring early, and the ups and downs of investing in the stock market – all excellent topics to gain financial knowledge!
Kristy and Bryce were able to retire at 31 and are now traveling the world. They did it by working their regular 9-5 jobs, and they teach you how to do it in this book. Above all, Quit Like A Millionaire is FI/RE heavy, so if you don’t know what that is yet – definitely grab this book!
#4. Secrets of Six-Figure Women by Barbara Stanny
Who doesn’t love a good boss girl book? Make that a book about 150 high-earning women whose annual incomes are between $100,000 to $7 million.
This book is a compilation of interviews of high earners and boss babes making less than $100,000. Barbara Stanny found similar characteristics between these two groups of women and also found what sets them apart when it comes to their earning potential.
Lastly, Secrets of Six Figure Women is an older book, but it can give you an inspirational start to financial success.
#5. The Millionaire Next Door by Thomas J. Stanley
Is your neighbor a millionaire, and you didn’t even know it? This book has researched millionaires. What they found was that millionaires were just regular people – no flashy cars, no fancy clothes, no mansions!
As a fair warning, they do talk a lot about their studies on the characteristics of millionaires. Nevertheless, it does give you a deep insight into the mindset of a millionaire and how achievable it can be.
#6. The Automatic Millionaire by David Bach
It’s a very simple concept, but one that many people don’t do, don’t know about, or don’t know how to implement —automate your finances!
David Bach tells the story of an average couple earning decent salaries who are ready to retire. At their retirement, they have a million-dollar net worth! They reveal their secret in this book: how to do it.
With this in mind, this book is a great starting point for beginners. It is easy to read, straightforward and has basic principles for the financial novice.
#7. You Need A Budget Book by Jesse Mecham
I may be biased about this book because I absolutely LOVE the YNAB app. It has been my go-to budgeting software since 2016 and a literal game-changer regarding my finances. This book is based on the You Need A Budget application principles.
If you are new to budgeting, want to break the paycheck-to-paycheck cycle, and set up your budget so that you can reach your financial goals, this short book explains how in four simple rules.
The most important thing about reading these seven best books for wealth building is that you are taking action to increase your financial education. There is a wide range of beautiful books to read about money and personal finance. These books are just the recommendations that helped me elevate my finances and change my life!
